Summer reflections…

What a summer! Kicked it off with Marisa and Marci doing their partner acro act “Mystery” as the pre-show for Universoul Circus’ “Youth Violence Prevention Day” performance in Boston.  Then, as finalists in the NCL/USA Today EPIC Star contest, the Diamond Sisters won a trip on the inaugural NYC cruise of the EPIC. We thoroughly enjoyed Cirque Dreams’ onboard circus, and the hospitality of the cast and crew, as well as all the folks in involved in the contest.

Marisa and Marci flew from the ship to Carrie Heller’s Circus Arts Institute for a couple weeks’ training in Circus Arts Therapy. We learned so much from Carrie and our experiences with the incredible kids and counselors at both Camp CADI http://www.safegirlsstronggirls.org/ and CAI’s circus camp for kids with special needs http://www.circusartsinstitute.com/circus-arts-social-summer.html . Marisa also created a new trapeze act at CAI, which she premiered at the Guilford Fair on Labor Day weekend, while Marci got back on her lyra for that one.

Somehow, Marisa also fit in a few weeks at “home” at Smirkus camp in August, while Marci helped with classes at E.A.S.T.  (where we also got to practice high falls). We even made a quick trip to L.A. for a great conference, stunt workout at Gymnastics Olympica, and all-too-quick visit with our west coast family and friends.

In the waning days of summer, we found renewal and great ideas at the American Youth Circus Organization Educators’ Conference and wound up on the front page of the local paper, photo at: http://www.reformer.com/localnews/ci_16120147.

How was YOUR summer? Hope it was fantastic! We were so busy, we didn’t get around to posting the summer’s performances ahead of time…sorry.! You can always contact us with questions, and look, you can now see next month’s performances listed on our “Performances and Workshops” page. Hopefully we’ll find the time to get the photo and video gallery up next. And hope to see you down the road…
